Before
talking to your kids about sex and relationships,do take care about
these points mentioned below :-
|
|
|
- Have a
good ear
There
are times when we talk more and listen less, talking about sex
includes listening too.
- What
are their questions ?
Repeat
the questions what your children are asking you, as there are
times when you really do not understand what they are asking.
- Their
inputs
Check
out their source of information as their source could be wrong
and also make them aware of various myths about sex and even their
best friend could be wrong on it.
- Be a
welcome parent
Praise
your kids for talking to you about sexuality and relationships
this will teach your kids that they can reach you for any information
and guidance. Be their best friend.
- Create
moments
Current
events, movies and television shows are the best conversation
starters, long drives are also great occasions to do the same.
- Practice
makes a man perfect
This
is the most difficult thing to do, hence practice with a close
friend or do it with your husband/wife.
- Learn
to say "I don't know"
Incase
you are not aware of a specific topic or subject learn to say
"I Don't know" and search for that information together.
- Teach
your principles
Tell
them what you feel or believe about sex and relationships other
than the facts, which you would let them, know and also let them,
know WHY.
- Reliable
resources
There are ample of reliable resources available today, so just
don't talk in air and refer to some books.
- External
support
Discuss
your values about sex and relationships with other parents who
understand the same.
