Kolam Art & Community – Tamil Heritage Month

We will learn about the art and cultural context of Kolam making in an intergenerational and queer-positive space, have participatory kolam making and read poems and prose in a community sharing session. Please bring your writings or works you love to share in the community circle.

We will be joined by poet and translator Geetha Sukumaran, who will speak to us about the practice of kolam making, and share some traditional designs with us.

Visual artist Whyishnave Suthagar, whose work assesses her present surroundings using a lens of the past, will facilitate a kolam making workshop.

This is a Tamil-centering event, but all are welcome to attend in the spirit of care and respect. Refreshments will be served.
