மன்னார்குடி போன கதை 2.0

It has been the dream of the Tamil Community for many years to establish a Tamil Chair in Toronto as it will have a significant impact on the academic advancement of Tamil language and research. A fundraising campaign to establish a chair in Tamil Studies at the University of Toronto – Scarborough Campus is currently underway. For the creation of the Tamil Chair, one time payment of 3 million Canadian dollars are required. Of this required amount, 1 million has been collected and 2 more million needs to be collected from the community.

This is entirely a community project and needs the support of all Tamils and community organizations. To this end, every Tamil has an unprecedented opportunity to contribute to this noble cause and personally be involved in the creation of Tamil Chair.

Canada has a thriving Tamil Community of well over 300,000 people. There are several community organizations that work tirelessly to preserve Tamil language and heritage. The Canadian government also recognized January as the Tamil heritage month. Tamil language is an important part of our identity. So it is our duty to support the initiative to establish the Tamil Chair at the University of Toronto, Canada’s number 1 University and one of the top 20 universities in the world.
