இலங்கைக்கான கனடா உயர்ஸ்தானிகர் டேவிட் மெக்கின்னன் அவர்களுக்கும் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் கலாநிதி சுரேன் ராகவன் அவர்களுக்குமிடையிலான சந்திப்பு நேற்று (16) பிற்பகல் கனடா இல்லத்தில் இடம்பெற்றது.
இலங்கை-கனடா பாராளுமன்ற நட்புறவுச் சங்கத்தின் தலைவராக கலாநிதி சுரேன் ராகவன் அவர்கள் இம்மாத முற்பகுதியில் தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்டதன் பின்னர் கனேடிய உயர்ஸ்தானிகருடன் இடம்பெற்ற முதலாவது சந்திப்பு இதுவாகும்.
கனடா உயர்ஸ்தானிகருடனான இச் சந்திப்பில் இரு நாடுகளுக்கிடையிலும் மேற்கொள்ளுவதற்கு சாத்தியமான அபிவிருத்திட்டங்கள் குறித்தும், இலங்கையில் கல்வி, விவசாயம் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பத் துறை ஆகியவற்றின் அபிவிருத்திக்கு கனடாவிடமிருந்து உதவிகள் பெற்றுக் கொள்வது தொடர்பில் காணப்படும் சாத்தியமான வழிமுறைகள் குறித்தும் கலந்துரையாடப்பட்டது.
சர்வதேசத் தரம்வாய்ந்த கனடாவின் தொழிற்கல்வியினை இலங்கை இளையோருக்கு பெற்றுக் கொடுப்பதற்கான சாத்தியக்கூறுகள் தொடர்பிலும் இதன்போது கலந்துரையாடப்பட்டது. இதன்மூலம் இலங்கையில் தொழில் தகமையுள்ள இளையோரை உருவாக்குவதுடன் கனடா மற்றும் மேற்குலகின் தொழில்சந்தைகளில் இலங்கையின் இளையோர் வாய்ப்புக்களை பெற்றுக் கொள்வதற்கு வழிவகைகளை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொள்ளக்கூடியதாக இருக்குமெனவும் கலாநிதி சுரேன் ராகவன் அவர்கள் இதன்போது குறிப்பிட்டார்.
அத்துடன் புதுப்பிக்கத்தக்க சக்கி தொடர்பில் கனடாவின் உதவிகளை பெற்றுக்கொள்வது தொடர்பிலும் கலந்துரையாடப்பட்டது.
இந்த சந்திப்பில் கனடா உயர்ஸ்தானிகராலய அரசியல் உத்தியோகத்தர் திருமதி இந்திராணி ஜயவர்த்தனவும் கலந்து கொண்டிரருந்தார்.
The meeting between the Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka David McKinnon and the Member of Parliament Dr. Suren Raghavan was held at the Canada House yesterday afternoon (November 16, 2021).
This is the first meeting with the Canadian High Commissioner since Dr. Suren Raghavan was elected as the President of the Sri Lanka-Canada Parliamentary Friendship Association earlier this month.
During the meeting with the High Commissioners of Canada, discussed possible development projects and possible mechanisms for obtaining assistance from Canada for the development of the education, agriculture and technology sectors in Sri Lanka.
The possibilities of imparting world-class Canadian vocational education to Sri Lankan youth were also discussed. Dr. Suren Raghavan said that this would create a skilled-oriented youth in Sri Lanka and pave the way for Sri Lankan youth to gain opportunities in the job markets in Canada and the Western world.
Discussions also focused on obtaining Canada’s assistance in connection with the renewable energy.
Mrs. Indrani Jayawardena, Political Officer, High Commission of Canada was also present at the meeting.
